Many people say that time is money.
Hmm... True...
But i personally think that time has more value than just relating it to money, I think time is about respect.
Many people these days has lost the point of view of being on time is a part of respecting other people.
I live in Jakarta, the busiest city in Indonesia, again, they said.
Every single day people complain about the traffic madness in this city.
Every single day we have to struggle with the traffic madness and rushing with time just to be in a place that we should be at.
Yeah, it SUCKS!
But hey! You live with it everyday.
Complaining won't take you anywhere.
Some of us still have to go to school.
Some of us still have to attend an important meeting.
Some of us still have to go from a place to another place.
You know how crazy the traffic situation is in this town.
Think and find the solution for your own sake!
I see so many people who become careless about time and other people.
The culture of "ngaret" has become a habit.
"Hey, let's meet up!"
"OK! Meet me at South Jakarta"
"Alright! 7pm yes?
"7pm it is"
What you supposed to do is estimating the time that you need to be in the place that you should be at and the location that you are at currently.
The reality these days is
"Hmm, i'll meet someone at 7pm. He/she must be late too. I better go there at 6pm so i won't have to wait"
Imagine what is gonna happen if every single person in this world think that way!
No one would meet each other and there are so many times wasted while we can use it for any valuable things that we could!
By being late or "ngaret", realize it or not, you're being disrespectful to someone who has the appointment with you.
If she/he is being on time, imagine how his/her feeling when she/he has to wait for hours.
Imagine how much time wasted.
Imagine how much money that she/he could get if she/he is working or producing or selling something.
Have you ever imagined his/her effort to be there on time just because he/she respects your time and words?
Take a look Japanese people.
They respect time and always value every single time that's ticking.
Try to make an appointment with Japanese people for business matters and being late.
Trust me, you won't get the deal!
Indonesian people always have a dream that one day Indonesia could be one of a huge developed country.
One thing that we often forget is that to be a developed country, we need to develop ourselves first.
Time is respect.
Time is an intangible thing that worth more than money.
No matter how much money that you have, it won't worth if you have no time to spend it.
It's not hard to be on time.
It's just a matter of willingness.
If you will, you can! :)
